Spencer, No. 2 Dodge Finish Seventh at Bristol

Jimmy Spencer drove the No. 2 Team ASE/Ultra Wheels Dodge to a seventh-place finish in Wednesday night's O'Reilly 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway - the 17th race of the 2005 season. Spencer qualified 18th, used a one-stop pit strategy and kept all four fenders on his truck to pick up his seventh Top-10 finish of the season. With a solid Bristol finish, Spencer retakes the fifth position in NCTS Championship points.

In a race that saw few opportunities for yellow flag pit stops, Spencer and his Ultra Motorsports crew only pitted for tires and fuel once; a caution flag at the 70 lap mark. When the race restarted, it went nearly 100 laps before the next caution came out. Spencer restarted from the eleventh position and used the patience developed as a veteran of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series to let the race come to him. He picked off a couple of positions on the long green flag run, and a caution flag with a handful of laps remaining allowed him to close in on the pack. With just six laps remaining when the final green flag waved, Spencer made most of the situation and picked off two more positions to cross the line seventh at the checkered flag.

"I'm not really happy with seventh," Spencer said. "I love this place, but the truck just didn't come off the corner like it needed to. We only made one pit stop and it's tough to get the right handle with just one stop. This is a really short race. If you asked me, it would be better if this race was 250 laps because it would give you a chance to make a couple of pit stops and give you some more time to make some passes on the racetrack. In all it was a great run for the Team ASE/Ultra Wheels Dodge. We're already looking forward to the next race in Richmond."

Spencer moves up to fifth in the series point standings, 280 points behind leader Dennis Setzer and just 19 points behind fourth-place driver Ron Hornaday
