2001 Charity Golf Tournament & Auction Recap

The 2001 Charity Golf Tournament and Auction raised almost $ 70,000.00. This brings the total money raised so far to date to over $ 200,000.00. In 2001 we proudly sponsored programs or items totaling $ 46,415.00.

Some of these grants were:

River Rescue:

Purchased a water rescue hovercraft and enclosed trailer for the Berwick Area Fire Department. It is the Hovercraft 123. It will also be dispatched when needed for the surrounding communities.

Handicapped Playground:

Purchased combination swings w/wheel chair swings and wheel through arcades for a new playground at Camp Victory. Camp Victory is a year around camp complex serving chronically ill and physically challenged children in Millville, PA.

Playground Equipment:

Purchased a carousel, sailboat, basketball court and playground surfacing material for the preschool and early elementary handicapped accessible playground at the Helping Hands Society in Hazleton, PA

Upkeep of "Rusty":

Underwrote the yearly care of "Rusty" one of the horses used for riding therapy at EOS Therapeutic Riding Center Bloomsburg, PA

Therapeutic Pony:

Purchased a pony "Miracles Joker" for riding therapy at EOS Therapeutic Riding Center Bloomsburg, PA

Free Bike Helmets:

Purchased 102 children’s bike helmets for the Berwick Borough Police Department to give to any child needing a helmet at the bike-a-thon. Children had to be present to be properly fitted.

We also purchased or underwrote items for DARE, Big Brother/Big Sisters, the YMCA Therapeutic Pool, etc.
